#3 - #2 Predators Gold Cont.

Apparently, my short respite was a bit longer than I thought. ^_^

Continuing where I left of on my other post, which I belive is right when Pennyroal has shot Tom and has escaped on the Jenny Haniver.

After Tom is captured by the Lost Boys and now is working for them, the Lost Boys stumble upon a chamber that holds the infamous Stalker Fang. The Stalker Fang kills most of the Lost Boys except for one called Caul. As the Stalker Fang chases Tom and Hester(Hester was released by Tom) through out the hanger, she has a brief remembrance of them and lets them go.

-Now I was a little hasty in my last post, the part about Arkangel sinking into the ocean hasn't quite happened yet; hang on to your pants will ya. :)

Caul and a few others make their way back to Grimsby(their home) in a limpet(submarine) and Uncle doesn't like what Caul has done. So he desides to hang Caul by a rope until hes dies, fortunately, Gargle(a friend) saves him, gives him the Reykjavik map, and sends him on his way.

When Caul reaches Ancorage, Arkangel is gone and Tom and Hester are already there. With the map, he convinces them to continue to America and soon find a place called Newfoundland. The place is very fertile and they decide to stay and call the place Anchorage-in-vineland. They no longer have tracks or ice skates so the city is now a Static city.

Tom is still weak from his gunshot but manages.

Hester finds herself pregnant.

Over all, I think it is a great book to read.

#2 - #2 Predators Gold

This is the Sequel to the first book of my choice called "Mortal Engines"

In this book, Tom Natsworthy and Hester Shaw, find themselves aboard an Ice town called Anchorage. They soon find out that Freya, the mayoress of the town, has some intriguing plans.

-See, during the sixty minute war, most everything on the earth was destroyed using extremely high explosives. Including all plantlife; except one person, Nimrod Pennyroal, has said that he has been to America and has seen vast landscapes of lush green vegitation.

Tom and Hester pick up Pennyroal as he has convinced them to be their passenger, aboard a flying city called Airhaven.

Back to Anchorage:

Freya, the mayoress, decides that she trusts Pennyroal, and she appoints him head navigator for Anchorage. During this time, Tom and Hester start getting suspicious and try to convince Freya that Pennyroal is a big fake.

At some point in time, Freya asks Tom to be a guest in the Winter Palace for an evenings dinner, although Hester doesn't like it, Tom goes anyway. Hester decides the she should spy and later sees Tom kissing Freya. Hester proceeds to fly away in her air ship the Jenny Haniver, and goes to a predator town called Arkangel. She then sells Anchorage to Arkangel in an attempt to receive Tom back as her 'Predators Gold'. Before she can get back to Anchorage to collect her payment, she is captured by the 'Green Storm'.

During which she is held prisoner by the Green Storm, Tom is captured by a band of thieves called the 'Lost Boys'; in which he is forced into Archangel to try and recapture Hester as a distraction for a bigger plan.

But before Tom is captured, Archangel sinks below as the ice it is on breaks under its own weight, just as Pennyroal shoots Tom aboard Anchorage and escapes in the Jenny Haniver.

-Now that I've gotten through most of part 1 & 2 of the book, I think I'll take a short respite....

#1 - #1 First online review - Mortal Engines

As this is my first online review, ill try to go easy and not rewrite the entire book. :p

Ill begin with a series I just started about a week ago called "The Hungry City Chronicles" It consists of 4 released books as ordered: "Mortal Engines", "Predator's Gold", "Infernal Devices", and "A Darkling Plain". Right now, I'm on the fourth and final book, "A Darkling Plain".

Now this is going to look like a summary, but this is my idea of a review. :)

Lets start with "Mortal Engines".

As the book begins, Tom Natsworthy(London’s 3rd class apprentice historian) is having another normal day in a museum when suddenly he hears London turn on its auxiliary engines. :D He learns later that London has found another city on the "Hunting grounds", and it is 'chasing' the city over a barren landscape.

-The reader finally finds out that the cities actually have caterpillar tracks and/or wheels that the city can move on like a really big car.

As they eventually catch the city and the inhabitants are escorted out of the 'gut', one of them tries to assassinate Thaddeus Valentine. Tom blocks the blow and they are chased through out the city when finally she jumps out of a trash chute and falls into the out country and not knowing it, Valentine 'pushed' Tom and inevitable fell with her. When they try to catch London, they come upon many cities that they spend their nights in, but eventually, they get hold of an airship piloted by Anna Fang. Finally, when they do reach London, they find out that the great city has gotten hold of an ancient weapon called MEDUSA left over from the Sixty-Minute war. When the plans of London are released, Hester Shaw and Tom Natsworthy must stop London before they destroy what’s left on the barren earth.

-----------

See, I said it would look like a summary, well, it is a summary; but heres the review part.

From the beginning of the book to the end, I couldn’t wait to turn the page and find out what happens next. Each line had me at the edge of my seat just grasping me till the very end. When I finished the book, I couldn’t wait to get the next one. Great book Phillip Reeve, I cant wait to read more. :D

New blog

I have been a fan of Sci-Fi books and shows for quite some time now, of course I read about some other genres, but mostly I read Sci-Fi. I have just now got the sense to finally come up here and put up a blog so I can post my opinions about what I think and express my self. I am not familliar with blogs, but I think I'm starting to get a hang of it.

I hope that what I post up here will encourage people to go out there and get a good book, and if you dont, well, atleast you had some sense to read my reviews.
